2011 October 4 - Morning Manna

And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction. Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness. But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen. (2 Peter 3:15-18)

Today's Morsel: My wife made a scale on the garage wall of the grand kids, so that each time they visit, she can determine how much they have grown.  We can measure growth in many ways. Shoe size, waist size, clothes size, pounds, and even hat sizes. One size doesn't fit all!  But how do you measure spiritual growth. What do you look for in a person who say they are a Christian?  What signs do you look for to see how they've grown?  Do you look for Biblical knowledge?  Church attendance?  Measure their attitudes? Just what do you look for?  Paul told the Hebrews, "For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil" (Hebrews 5:12-14). So I take this to say that if they aren't teaching, they aren't growing (my wording).  Peter said that we are to grow in grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  So how much have you grown since you became born again?  How many people have you led to Jesus?  How many home Bible Studies have you taught?  Are you a Christian atheist?  You know, a person who says that they are a Christian, but aren't reflecting or living to your true potential.  School is now back in session.  Let's get into The Book and learn and grow.

Sing: The greatest thing in all my life is knowing You! The greatest thing in all my life is knowing You! I want to know You more, I want to know You more, the  greatest thing in all my life is knowing You.
