2011 October 5 - Morning Manna

And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine. And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth. And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee. And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail. And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
(1 Samuel 17:32-39)

Today's Morsel:  Are there things that are causing you spiritual hindrances?  Are there things that are preventing you from going forward?  What would you say is the number one thing that's preventing you from doing what you know God wants you to do?  Is it fear?  Is it a lack of Biblical knowledge?  Is it your job?  Is it your spouse or children?  Is it money?  Do you feel unworthy?  Just what is it?  Is it weights?  David soon realized that he couldn't wear Saul's armor and be successful against his enemy.  He had to go with what he knew how to use; a sling and some stones.  Some folks try to use other's armor to defeat their enemies, but you have to learn how to fight with your own armor and sword.  You need to know how to use your own Bible and not someone else's.  Every time you go to church without your own Bible and have to use one in the pew or rely on the projector, you are trying to fight with someone else's sword.  Every  time you try to defeat the enemy of your soul with how someone else did it, you are putting on their armor.  If you have proved your own armor, you'll know what to use to defeat any enemy that comes against you or you go out to face.   "Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints" (Ephesians 6:10-18).

Sing: Unafraid because His armor is the best, but even soldiers need a quiet place to rest. People say that I'm amazing never face retreat, but they don't see the enemies that lay at your feet.

They don't know that I go running home when I fall down, they don't know Who picks me up when no one is around, I drop my sword and cry for just a while, cause deep inside this armor, the warrior is a child.
