Cast thy bread upon the waters: for thou shalt find it after many days. (Ecclesiastes 11:1)
Today's Morsel: I have read articles where people have pulled bottles from the ocean or rivers with notes in them from people from thousands of miles away. When these people are contacted, they are amazed at how far the bottle had traveled. Solomon said to cast your bread upon the waters, for thou shalt find it after many days. Bread here can represent many things. It can be the money we give to missions, or it can be food to feed the hungry, or it could mean the Word of God, as Jesus is the Bread of Life, or it can be your time, talent, or abilities. The law of sowing and reaping applies to everyone, not just to the Christian. You always reap what you sow. Paul said, "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver"(2 Corinthians 9:6-7). The more of God's Word we sow, the more Godly things will come back to us. The more seed we plant, the more harvest we reap. Have you done any sowing lately?
Sing: Give and it shall come back to you, good measure, pressed down shaken together and running over; give and it shall come back to you, when you give, you give to the Lord.
