In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

Today's Morsel: Isn't it amazing, that as soon as light appears darkness flee. When traveling to the far east, you come upon the international date line. This line divides the light from the darkness. You can see light on one side and darkness on the other. Like this line, before we come to Jesus, we are walking in darkness even though some may think that they are not. But when we get close to Jesus, we can soon see just how dark our lives really are. Then when we start coming closer to Jesus, who is the light, we can see the darkness flee. And once we come completely to Him, all our darkness flees. One of the reasons some people hate Christians is because their darkness is being exposed by the light of Christ that is in that person. Therefore, the Christian has to decide if they are going to allow their light to shine, or snuff it out to fit in with those who are walking in darkness, to avoid persecution and rejection. Jesus said, "I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life" (John 8:12). The light of the world, Jesus, is the true light which lights every man that comes into the world. Are you walking in darkness? Then why not come to the light. Jesus is the only one that can get you out of darkness and bring you into His marvelous light. Always remember, it's hard to stumble when walking in the light.
Sing: Shine Jesus shine, fill this land with the Father's glory. Blaze, Spirit blaze, set our hearts on fire. Flow, river flow, flood the nations with grace and mercy. Send forth Your word, Lord, and let there be light.
