Then she fell on her face, and bowed herself to the ground, and said unto him, Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger? (Ruth 2:10).
Today's Morsel: Do you ever wonder that with all the people in the world, why God chose you? Just what was it about you that God took notice of you? Ruth asked Boaz, "Why have I found grace in thine eyes, that thou shouldest take knowledge of me, seeing I am a stranger?" She wanted to know why she had found such favor in his sight. Have you fallen on your face and asked Jesus why He is showing you such grace? Paul said "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9). Is it because of your faith in Jesus? Is it because your faith is not wavering when trials and circumstances come your way? Is His favor of you because of your commitment to the work of the Lord? Just why has God taken notice of you? Boaz answered Ruth and said unto her, "It hath fully been shewed me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother in law since the death of thine husband: and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people which thou knewest not heretofore. The LORD recompense thy work, and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to trust" (Ruth 2:11-12). If you will notice, one of the first things Ruth said when Naomi told her she was free to return to her people was, "Your God will be my God, and your people shall be my people." Boaz told her, "Because you have come to trust under the wings of the Lord God of Israel, the Lord recompense your work and reward you a full reward." He said it was because Ruth chose to trust the God of Israel. When you learn to trust God as Ruth did, you too will find great favor and grace in His eye.
Sing: Grace! Grace! God's Grace! Grace that will pardon and cleanse within! Grace! Grace! God's grace, grace that is greater than all our sins!
