Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2016 March 29

And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.
(Luke 11:27-28)

Today’s Morsel: Probably the greatest things that we can do as Christians is hide, obey, and keep God’s word in our heart.    It has so many valuable purposes for us. Just to name a few:  It cleanses us (Psalms 119:9).  It gives us hope (Romans 15:4).  It lightens our path (Psalms 119:105).  It feeds us (John 6:35).  Jesus said that we are blessed when we hear the word of God and keep it.  And the apostle James tells us the same, “But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed” (James 1:25). Obedience to God’s word opens the blessing storehouse.  If you are not blessed and highly favored as a Christian, ask yourself why not?

Sing: When I look into Your Word Lord, when I gaze into its pages, I see You and Your love for me. I find joy unspeakable, and grace unmeasured; I find hope of life in You.

Thought For Today:  Obedience to God’s word opens the blessing storehouse. (Parker)
