Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2016 March 14

And Moses told these sayings unto all the children of Israel: and the people mourned greatly. And they rose up early in the morning, and gat them up into the top of the mountain, saying, Lo, we be here, and will go up unto the place which the LORD hath promised: for we have sinned. And Moses said, Wherefore now do ye transgress the commandment of the LORD? but it shall not prosper. Go not up, for the LORD is not among you; that ye be not smitten before your enemies. For the Amalekites and the Canaanites are there before you, and ye shall fall by the sword: because ye are turned away from the LORD, therefore the LORD will not be with you. But they presumed to go up unto the hill top: nevertheless the ark of the covenant of the LORD, and Moses, departed not out of the camp. Then the Amalekites came down, and the Canaanites which dwelt in that hill, and smote them, and discomfited them, even unto Hormah.
(Numbers 14:39-45).

Today’s Morsel: One of the things about church is that you have to know truth for yourself.  I think the reason that so many people struggle in life is because they think church is all about making them feel good, and not about telling them what they should and shouldn't be doing according to the word of God.  But we don’t find this in the word of God. Paul said, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake” (2 Corinthians 4:3-5).  Yes, the gospel is the good news of salvation, but this same gospel calls for you to let the world go and separate yourself unto God.  And it calls for you to be in submission to the authority over you.  Satan will work to make you feel good emotionally through song, and even create an atmosphere for your emotions, as long as you do not change within and without.  As long as your life continues to reflect him and the world, he will let you go to church, sing in the choir, teach, preach, and even worship God but just don’t go too far with it.  This is what Pharaoh told Moses and the children of Israel.  You can go worship your God, but just don’t go too far (Exodus 8:28).  When the children of Israel did not believe God after all the warnings they were given, they were rejected.  And then when they wanted to enter the Promise Land, Moses told them not to go up because God was not with them.  Let me encourage you today, study to know truth for yourself just as Joshua and Caleb did.  You don’t ever want to find yourself in a position of thinking that God is with you only to find out that He’s not.

Sing: Let me walk with You Jesus. Don’t ever leave me alone. For without You I could never, no never make heaven my home.

Thought For Today: Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
