2014 October 25 - Morning Manna

"And Elijah said unto Ahab, Get thee up, eat and drink; for there is a sound of abundance of rain. So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees, And said to his servant, Go up now, look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said, There is nothing. And he said, Go again seven times. And it came to pass at the seventh time, that he said, Behold, there ariseth a little cloud out of the sea, like a man's hand. And he said, Go up, say unto Ahab, Prepare thy chariot, and get thee down, that the rain stop thee not. And it came to pass in the mean while, that the heaven was black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode, and went to Jezreel. And the hand of the LORD was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel"(1 Kings 18:41-46)

Today's Morsel: The Bible says that without a vision the people perish.  In other words, where there is no sight (mentally), that is a dream, revelation, or oracle, and without direction, people don't know what to do nor where to go.  The children of Israel had been without rain for three and a half years.  And now Elijah prayed for it to rain.  But he needed a sign from God. And so he sent his servant to see if he saw a cloud that would indicate tit was going to rain.  But the servant saw nothing when he went.  Most of us know that if it is going to rain, we usually are going to see a dark cloud somewhere in the sky.  But the servant said there was nothing.  And so Elijah told him to go seven times.  On the seventh time, he came back and said he saw a cloud about the size of a man's hand.  And this was all Elijah needed to hear to know that it was going to rain.  Jesus said that if we have faith as a grain of mustard seed, we can say to the mountain to move and it would move. Once Elijah had been told by his servant about the small cloud, he told his servant to go tell the King to get down quickly from the mountain because there was an abundance of rain coming.   Right now, you may not see anything sign of an answer for what you have been praying about.  Maybe it has been a long time and you haven't heard from God. Maybe you are feeling a little dry and could use a little Holy Ghost rain to shower you right about now, or a word of encouragement to lift you up.  Well, let me encourage you today, "Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompense of reward. For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise. For yet a little while, and he that shall come will come, and will not tarry. Now the just shall live by faith: but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him. But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 10:35-11:1).  Jesus will come through, so hang in there.  The Bible is all the sign you need.

Sing: I feel the rain!  I feel the rain!  I feel it falling down on me. I feel the rain! I feel the rain!  I feel it falling down on me. Well it's the former and the latter rain together, and I'm not talking about the weather, it's the Holy Ghost rain and it's falling down on me.

Thought for Today: The Bible is all the sign you need.
