Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2026 September 14

Change Your Heart

“And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?” (Deuteronomy 10:12-13)

Today’s Morsel: Moses, in his explanation to the children of Israel, is informing them what is required of them to serve the Lord.  He tells them, and these instructions are for us a well: 1. To fear the LORD thy God, 2. To walk in all his ways, 3.To love him, 4. To serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, 5. To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes. That seems pretty simple to me. When the man asked the prophet Micah, what was required for him to come and appear before the Lord, he is told: “He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” (Micah 6:8) Both Moses and Micah call for us to change our heart and the way that we think if we are intending to make heaven our home and to stand before our Lord our Savior. This stuff isn’t hard. The problem is that most people don’t have a passion for the things of God and the things they want. If you don’t have passion, change your heart and see doesn’t your body follow. Your heart (mind) is what controls everything else in the body. Get your heart under control and your body will follow!

Sing: Change my heart O, God, make it ever true; change my heart O, God may I be like You. You are the potter, I am the clay, mold me and make me, this is what I pray. Change my heart O, God, make it ever true; change my heart O, God may I be like You.

Thought for Today: “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he...” (Proverbs 23:7)
