Character
“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour. But fornication, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not be once named among you, as becometh saints; Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.” (Ephesians 5:1-4)
Today’s Morsel: There is no crash course that a person can take for character. You either have it or you don’t. Abraham Lincoln said that character is like a tree, and reputation is like the shadow of the tree. The shadow is what you think of the tree, but the tree is the real thing. It’s all about your character. Most folks don’t think that character matters anymore because they are starting to pattern their lives after what they hear and see on T.V. and social media. Poor character doesn’t hurt others, it hurts you. The same is true with unethical behavior. It isn’t hurting others as much as it is hurting you. Character isn’t about others, it is all about you. “The just man walketh in his integrity: his children are blessed after him, Solomon said.” (Proverbs 20:7) What is inside of you? “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.” (1 John 2:27) No man is a Christian without Godly character!
Sing: I’ve got Jesus on the inside, working on the outside, oh what a change in my life. I’ve got Jesus on the inside, working on the outside, oh what a change in my life. I’ve got Jesus on the inside, working on the outside, oh what a change in my life. Oh what a change, in my life.
