He Chose Me
“For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.” (Deuteronomy 7:6-10)
Today’s Morsel: Do you remember as a kid, when you were selected to be on the team with your friends how you felt? Especially, when you were not selected until the very last. There is something inside each of us that makes us feel that others should want us. We apply for jobs because we feel that we have the abilities that the employer wants, and so they should choose us. But oh, how that feeling can rip our heart strings when we aren’t selected. Moses told the children of Israel that God did not choose nor select them because they were more in number. He said that God chose them because He loved them. Because we are called to love all people, our choosing and selecting for those we desire to be on our team should be based on love. Not on race, color, origin, talent, or ability. We must always have the mind of Christ. Don’t ever think that God chose you because you were the sharpest knife in the drawer. He chose you because He loved you. It is as simple as that.
Sing: He chose me, He chose me, out of all the people in this world. He chose me, He chose me, and He can use me till He uses me up.
