Let’s Be Like Jesus
“If
there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any
fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies, Fulfil ye my joy, that ye
be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let
nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each
esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but
every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also
in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 2:1-5)
Today’s Morsel: Just
think what the world would be like if everyone who says that they are Christian
would have the mind of Jesus. How much peace would there be on the earth? How
much love would be spread abroad through others? How many divorces would be
crushed? How many folks would be less stressed and depressed? And how much good
would be done in the land? Why does Paul call for us to have the mind of
Christ? Because Jesus was perfect. He was complete and knew what it took to do
the will of God on earth. As Jesus told the disciples: “For I have given you
an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.” (John 13:15) I am
afraid that the church is getting away from the mind of Christ. We are called
by Him to be His witnesses, and yet there are no testimony services in the
church. We don’t do foot-washing services anymore, and we’ve turned prayer into
an event instead of a relationship with Christ. Paul cautions us to: “Let
the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing
one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your
hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of
the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.” (Colossians
3:16-17) What will it take for us to get back to being like Him?
Sing: To be
like Jesus. To be like Jesus, on earth I long to be like Him. All through
life’s journey, from earth to glory, I only ask to be like Him.
Thought For Today: “For
even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us
an example, that ye should follow his steps”
(1 Peter 2:21)
