Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2018 May 1

"This is the day which the LORD hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it."
(Psalms 118:24)

Today’s Morsel:  When I was in elementary school, May 1st was always May Day.  It was a day filled with celebration and fun.  We played games.  Ate lots of food. And at the end of the day, we wrapped the Maypole.  Writing to the church at Rome, Paul said, “One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind” (Romans 14:5).  The psalmist said that this is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.  Notice that he makes this comment as if it were a new day made just for him for the very occasion or the things that he was facing and going through.  He makes it sound as though he was not expecting to see this day; and because God had allowed him to see it, he would rejoice.  Maybe you were not expecting to see this day.  Maybe someone had written you off.  But God has spared you and added this joyous day to your life.  What will you do with it?  I suggest you rejoice and be glad in it.

Sing:  This is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made, that the Lord has made.  I will rejoice, I will rejoice, and be glad in it, and be glad in it.  This is the day, that the Lord has made.  I will rejoice and be glad in it.  This is the day, this is the day, that the Lord has made.

Thought For Today:  In everything give thanks.
