“When John had first preached before his coming the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not he. But, behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of his feet I am not worthy to loose. Men and brethren, children of the stock of Abraham, and whosoever among you feareth God, to you is the word of this salvation sent” (Acts 13:24-26).

Today’s Morsel:  Since the writing of the book and the movie “Roots”, many people have wondered where they came from.  Many have traced their roots in hope to find out their stock.  Paul and Barnabas were asked if they had any words of exaltation for the church, to which he began to explain to them that the gospel message of salvation was sent to them because they were the stock of Abraham.  He explained to the church at Galatia, “For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:26-29).  When we are born-again, of the water and the Spirit, we become of the seed of Abraham and can easily trace our “roots” back to Christ.
