Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2018 May 31

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved” (John 3:16-17).

Today’s Morsel:  Most of us “Baby Boomers” remember the songs we learned in Sunday School and church about how much Jesus loves us.  And we can still sing them today. You see, most of us were required to go to Sunday School and church because it was a part of our upbringing and people understood the moral impact it had on a person's life.  Our Sunday School classes and church services were mostly about God’s love for people and how we should live the same way.  But I’m afraid that today’s Sunday School and church services are more relevant to today’s culture of making people happy and trying to please everyone.  Sunday School and churches are having to worry about not offending anyone, instead of preaching and teaching the truth.  If we want to see the world a better place, people’s lives changed for the better, marriages lasting, and murder ceasing, the church must get back to the gospel.

Sing:  Jesus loves me, this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak, but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me, for the Bible tells me so.

Thought For Today:  Love covers all sin.
