2015 August 5 - Morning Manna

He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered. (Proverbs 28:26)

Today's Morsel: I was listening to this lady give another lady some counsel about a situation that she was facing.  And the lady told her to just trust her heart.  Maybe you have heard someone say that to someone before, too.  Solomon said he that trusteth in his own heart is a fool. Why?  Jeremiah said because the heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it? (Jeremiah 17:9)  You don't know what you will do when you are in an emotional state.   Solomon tells us, "Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones" (Proverbs 3:5-8). Always remember, "There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless the counsel of the LORD, that shall stand" (Proverbs 19:21).  If you want to trust a sure thing, trust in the Lord.

Sing: Jesus be the Lord of all; Jesus be the Lord of all; Jesus be the Lord of all, the kingdoms of my heart. Jesus I surrender all; Jesus I surrender all; Jesus I surrender all, the kingdoms of my heart.

Thought for Today: Godly counsel still works!
