2015 June 6 - Morning Manna

As for the oblation of the firstfruits, ye shall offer them unto the LORD: but they shall not be burnt on the altar for a sweet savour. And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt. And if thou offer a meat offering of thy firstfruits unto the LORD, thou shalt offer for the meat offering of thy firstfruits green ears of corn dried by the fire, even corn beaten out of full ears. And thou shalt put oil upon it, and lay frankincense thereon: it is a meat offering. And the priest shall burn the memorial of it, part of the beaten corn thereof, and part of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof: it is an offering made by fire unto the LORD. (Leviticus 2:12-16)

Today's Morsel:  I like reading the instructions that God gave to Moses and Aaron in preparing the sacrifices that were to be offered.  He told them "And every oblation of thy meat offering shalt thou season with salt; neither shalt thou suffer the salt of the covenant of thy God to be lacking from thy meat offering: with all thine offerings thou shalt offer salt."  The offering was not to be lacking salt.  Today we hear people saying that salt isn't good for you.  Well, whose report will you believe!  God said, "Don't let the meat offering be lacking salt."  Jesus said, "Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men" (Matthew 5:13); "Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be seasoned" (Luke 14:34)?  If we are living sacrifices for God, we must have salt in our lives because we are called to change things.  Nothing changes salt, it is salt that changes other things.

Sing: Whose report will you believe? We shall believe the report of the Lord. Whose report will you believe, we shall believe the report of the Lord. His report says I am healed, His report says I am filled, His report says I am free, His report says victory.

Thought for today: Salt is good for you.
