And he took up his parable, and said, Balaam the son of Beor hath said, and the man whose eyes are open hath said: He hath said, which heard the words of God, and knew the knowledge of the most High, which saw the vision of the Almighty, falling into a trance, but having his eyes open: I shall see him, but not now: I shall behold him, but not nigh: there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel, and shall smite the corners of Moab, and destroy all the children of Sheth.

Today's Morsel: In the 70's, there was a movie entitled, "Jesus Christ Super Star." I never saw it, but the title captured my attention. Balaam said that there shall come a Star out of Jacob, and a Sceptre shall rise out of Israel. Scripture says, "Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him" (Matthew 2:1-2). The wise men said that they had seen his star in the east. The one that Balaam had prophesied about as coming out of Jacob had come and was now being sought by wise men. Even today, wise men, and those who seem to be wise, should still be seeking Him.
Sing: This Star drew nigh to the northwest, over Bethlehem it took its rest, and there it did both stop and stay, right over the place where Jesus lay.
Noel, Noel, Noel, Noel, born is the King of Israel.
Thought for Today: Wise men still seek Him.
