2014 February 14 - Morning Manna

And Jacob loved Rachel; and said, I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter. And Laban said, It is better that I give her to thee, than that I should give her to another man: abide with me. And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her.
(Genesis 29:18-20)

Today's Morsel:   Observing Jacobs actions here, we could say that this was love at first sight.   I'm sure some of you, when you were young, saw a boy or girl that you fell in lust with the first moment you saw them.  What is it about love that captures our hearts at such an early age?  The Bible says, "And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her."   Love can sometimes cause us do some unimaginable things.  Moses told the children of Israel, "The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt" (Deuteronomy 7:7-8). Sometimes our love may be based on a vow that we've made to someone else.  I think all marriage vows should fit this point.  Jesus even asked Peter three times if he loved Him (John 21:15-17), to see if he was committed to their relationship and his calling.  A true calling of God births a love for God, the people of God, and for the things of God.v If we love God, we should love one another.  "Beloved, let us love one another: for love is of God; and every one that loveth is born of God, and knoweth God. He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another" John said,(1 John 4:7-11).  Always remember, Jesus loved you first and He still does.

Sing: Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so. Little ones to Him belong, they are weak but He is strong.
Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! Yes, Jesus loves me! For the Bible tells me so.
