"Having therefore obtained help of God, I continue unto this day, witnessing both to small and great, saying none other things than those which the prophets and Moses did say should come: That Christ should suffer, and that he should be the first that should rise from the dead, and should shew light unto the people, and to the Gentiles. And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad. But he said, I am not mad, most noble Festus; but speak forth the words of truth and soberness. For the king knoweth of these things, before whom also I speak freely: for I am persuaded that none of these things are hidden from him; for this thing was not done in a corner. King Agrippa, believest thou the prophets? I know that thou believest. Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian. And Paul said, I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am, except these bonds" (Acts 26:22-29)
Today's Morsel: Who persuaded you to become a Christian? What was the drawing card? I'm sure there are many of us that can testify of the one person who influenced us and made us think about the life we were living and caused us to see that we needed a Savior and that we needed to make a change. It has been stated that when asked by those who do not believe why they don't believe, they said, "I've never met a Christian, and those who say that they are aren't." King Agrippa knew what Paul was talking about, but because of those around him, he rejected truth. He told Paul, "Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian." To which Paul replied, "I would to God, that not only thou, but also all that hear me this day, were both almost, and altogether such as I am." Paul was a believer and follower of Christ and he wanted everyone else to be too. Paul understood that his mission was to preach the Gospel to every creature (Mark 16:15-18), whether kings, governors, queens, or other stately officials, as well as others no matter where he found himself. It didn't matter to Paul who a person was. He saw them as needing Jesus more than others, as few men and women who fill these offices display the traits and character of a child of God. Let me encourage you today, don't hold back from telling people about Christ, you just may be the one that helps save a shattered life or one that is heading for destruction.
