Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 June 6

D Day

“And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever.” (Exodus 12:14)

Today’s Morsel: The same way that the Passover was to be a memorial forever to Israel of their deliverance, D-Day was to be a memorial to the French, and other European countries, of their deliverance from the evils of Adolph Hitler and the 3rd Reich. Many soldiers, sailors, airmen, and marines, along with the allied forces would be lost from this invasion. Thousands upon thousands of men and equipment would be lost on this day to make others free. The same way that the children of Israel were told that they must observe the Passover forever as a reminder of their deliverance, we must observe D-Day forever. While Passover is a reminder of God’s sacrifice for our deliverance, D-day is a reminder of the sacrifice by allied forces for the deliverance of others. And we should pause to remember those that gave their all to free others.

Sing: This is the day, this is the day that the Lord hath made, that the Lord hath made. I will rejoice, I will rejoice and be glad in it and be glad in it. This is the day that the Lord hath made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. This is the day; this is the day that the Lord hath made.

Thought For Today: Freedom is not free!
