Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2025 Jun 18

Eternity

“LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. He that backbiteth not with his tongue, nor doeth evil to his neighbour, nor taketh up a reproach against his neighbour. In whose eyes a vile person is contemned; but he honoureth them that fear the LORD. He that sweareth to his own hurt, and changeth not. He that putteth not out his money to usury, nor taketh reward against the innocent. He that doeth these things shall never be moved.” (Psalms 15:1-5)

Today’s Morsel: The older I get; it just seems as though time is gaining speed. I was talking with a few folks who I know here in the city where I live, and they asked me where I had been. When I told them to Alaska and that I had an opportunity to see and hold my first great grandson, they said to me, you don’t look old enough to have a great grandson. I said, yeah, I know, but my body speaks otherwise (humor). If time passes as fast as it has, and the Lord tarries, I will be one-hundred years old in 26 short years. Crazy isn’t it. But I will tell you that there isn’t a day that goes by that I do not consider eternity. Daily, I make sure that I check in with Jesus through prayer and reading of His word and asking Him to show me any character flaws, sins, and wrongs that may be in my life that need revealing and removal. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to come short of the mark of the prize. Jesus tells us to hold fast to that we have, that no man takes our crown (Revelation 3:11). Like Paul, I don’t want to preach this wonderful gospel of Truth to others and then come up short in the end and find myself being a castaway. As the song writer said and as my wife prays for our family every morning, for above all else I must be saved. Jesus even said: “For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?” (Mark 8:36) Have you considered eternity lately?

Sing: If we never meet again, on this earth my blessed friend, if to God, we have been true, and we’ve lived above all sin, then for us, there’ll be a greeting, for there’s going to be a meeting, I’ll see you in the rapture some sweet day.

Hallelujah, I’ll see you in the rapture, I’ll see you in the rapture, I’ll see you in the meeting in the air.

Thought For Today: Eternity has no end!
