What A Friend We Have In Jesus

“A friend loveth at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.” (Proverbs 17:17)

Today’s Morsel: They say that friendship begins with the one that wants to have friends. True friendships are made over a course of a lifetime by encouragement, gratitude, and trust. It’s by you always finding something to encourage the other person about. Whether it be for their achievements, promotion, or health recovery, you find something to brighten their day. It’s also developed by you showing others thanks for the things that they do for you. Whether it be a meal, giving you a ride, or just keeping you informed, gratitude speaks volumes in developing friendships. And finally, there is trust. Friendships require trust. People often can detect trust if you do not have follow-through, or you do not prove that you are dependable. People want folks in their lives that they can trust. Scripture says that a friend loveth at all times. Think about that for a moment. At all times or always. Nothing stops a true friend from loving you. Even though Peter denied Jesus three times, and Judas betrayed Him for thirty pieces of silver, scripture says that He loved them to the end (John 13:1).  Jesus had not only proven Himself to be a friend, to His disciples, He has also proven Himself to be a friend to all those who call upon His name.

Sing: What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer!

O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.

Thought For Today: Can Jesus and others count on you?
