Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2023 Aug 17

Decisions Not Conditions Determine Your Character

“Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17)

Today’s Morsel: As I have mentioned, our character is one of the most important things that we have. When people hear your name, what do they think about you? You see, those traits of character which ought to be seen in us, are developed in us by the decisions we make. Every time we make the decision to lie, cheat, steal, make an excuse for wrong, or to be unethical, we are not developing good godly character. But on the other hand, when we follow the established rule, and fulfill the vows and commitments that we make, we are developing good character. Some folks easily violate their character when their conditions or circumstances put their backs against the wall. But it’s not the lie that you tell, or the excuses you make, that gets your back off the wall, it is godly character that will get you off. Jesus said to let no man deceive you. Your character does counts.

Sing: I have decided to follow Jesus, I have decided to follow Jesus; I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back, no turning back.
