Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2018 November 23

“And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, saying, This is the law of the sin offering: In the place where the burnt offering is killed shall the sin offering be killed before the LORD: it is most holy” (Leviticus 6:24-25).

Today’s Morsel:  When we review the laws that God gave to Moses, they were types and shadow of that which was to come.  Paul said that the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.  Moses only revealed what God had said, but Jesus Christ fulfilled what was written.  The Lord said that the same place the burnt offering was killed the sin offering was also to be killed.  The offerings were killed on the north side of the altar.  Calvary was located north of Jerusalem.  The psalmist wrote in Psalms 48:1-2, “Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King” (Psalms 48:1-2).  Isaiah records: “He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither was any deceit in his mouth. Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand. He shall see of the travail of his soul, and shall be satisfied: by his knowledge shall my righteous servant justify many; for he shall bear their iniquities” (Isaiah 53:7-11). See also Hebrews 10:1-10.  “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him” Paul said (2 Corinthians 5:21).  Thank God for the blood.

Sing:  The Law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul.  The testimonies of the Lord are sure, making wise the simple.  More to be desired are they than gold, much fine gold.  Sweeter also than the honey, and the honeycomb.

Thought For Today:  The things written aforetime were for our learning.
