Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2017 October 6

“A naughty person, a wicked man, walketh with a froward mouth. He winketh with his eyes, he speaketh with his feet, he teacheth with his fingers; Frowardness is in his heart, he deviseth mischief continually; he soweth discord” (Proverbs 6:12-14)

Today’s Morsel:  "That child is naughty", exclaimed the teacher.  Why does it seem that so many kids are naughty these days?  Why do we hear so many reports of juvenile delinquents?  Why are so many juveniles appearing before magistrates and being incarcerated?  Where have we gone wrong as a people?  Paul said, “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord” (Ephesians 6:4).  If parents fail to teach their children the correct way by sparing the rod and also by provoking them, they are sure to spoil the child.

Sing:  Tell me the story of Jesus, write on my heart every word, tell me the story most precious, more precious than ever was heard.  Tell how the angels in chorus, sang as they welcomed His birth, "Glory to God in the highest, peace and good will to men on earth".

Thought For Today: “ The rod expels naughtiness.” Parker
