Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2016 October 29

Thus saith the LORD, Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein. (Jeremiah 6:16)

Today’s Morsel: Have you ever heard the elderly speaking about the good old days?   How you could buy a new car for $2000.  A new home for $20,000.  Or a soda for 5 cents and a candy bar for a penny?  Where are those good old days?  The Lord said through Jeremiah, “Stand ye in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and ye shall find rest for your souls.”  Apparently, Israel had found some good ways, but had now gone from them.  And so the Lord told him to stand and ask for them again.  The Psalmist said that the way of the Lord is in the sanctuary (Psalms 77:13).  This being the case, we can see the value of the house of God for us.  It teaches us how to walk in the good ways, God’s ways, and how to find rest for our souls.  If you are without rest, check your path!

Sing:  I have found the way!  I have found the way! O’ glory hallelujah! I have found the way.

Thought For Today:  If you are without rest, check your path!
