2015 August 15 - Morning Manna

And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity. For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and hath forgotten that he was purged from his old sins. Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall: For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ (2 Peter 1:5-11).

Today's Morsel:  Faith reminds me a lot of cement. Cement is nothing but powder until you add water to it.  Then it becomes hardened and strong.  It has been stated that concrete, which is made from cement, reaches its maximum hardness after 30 years.  Maybe this is why Christians who have been in the church for 30 plus years are called the pillars of the church.  They have become, for the most part, steadfast and unmovable.  Peter said that if we add to our faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; and to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity; that if we do these things, we shall never fall.  Paul said, "Wherein God, willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath: That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Which hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and stedfast, and which entereth into that within the veil; Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec" (Hebrews 6:17-20).  God's word and His oath will make you strong if you hold to them.  How strong will your faith be in 30 years should the Lord tarry?  Keep adding to your faith and allow Him to make you an unshakable pillar.

Sing: The joy of the Lord is my strength, The joy of the Lord is my strength, The joy of the Lord is my strength, The joy of the Lord is my strength.

Thought for Today:  Add to your faith the word and you'll always be strong in the Lord.
