2013 January 26 - Morning Manna

This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. .. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. (Galatians 5:16-17; 25-26).

Today's Morsel:  A man once asked me, "How do I walk in the Spirit?"  I said to him, "Do you have the Spirit?"  He said, "Yes!"  I told him, "Well, the Spirit is Christ in you. It's the Holy Ghost operating within you. And so, you have to ask yourself, what would Jesus Christ do."  I told him, James tells us to not just be a hearer of the Word, but we must be a doer of the Word (James 1:22).  Our actions, attitude, and ambition, and aspirations must reflect Christ in all that we say and do.  I told him to notice what John tells us when he said, "He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked"(1 John 2:6).  I told him that if we say that the spirit of God is within us, then we walk as Christ did.  Jesus was full of mercy, grace, compassion, love, forgiveness, long-suffering, peace, goodness, faithfulness, and truth just to name a few things, then we should be, too.  Do you possess these same traits in your life?  If not, then you aren't walking in the Spirit. But if you are, then don't change.   As Paul told the church at Colossi, " For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness; Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light: Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins" (Colossians 1:9-14).  If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.  Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another.

Sing:  He's changing me, my blessed Savior, I'm not the same person that I use to be. Well, its been slow going,  but there's a knowing, that someday perfect I will be.
