2010 June 5 - Morning Manna

Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any  (1 Corinthians 6:9-12).

Today's Morsel: Would you say that because something is lawful it is alright to do it? I fear, as Paul said, that many Christians are being beguiled by the serpent the same as Eve was through his subtilty, and their minds are being corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ (2 Corinthians 11:3). They fail to realize that just because something is lawful (legal), it may not be expedient. In other words it may not be good and profitable for you. We are citizens of our countries, and there are things that at certain ages that we can do, these things are legal for us to partake of. But we need to ask ourselves if it goes against the Word of God? We must become judges of ourselves based on the Word of God. I asked a young lady once, "If I told you that I was a Christian, what would you use to measure me to determine if I really was a Christian?" She listed a few things. Then I told her, "If I say that I'm a Christian, then measure me based on the Word of God, because that is what Jesus is going to use." Jesus Himself said, "He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day" (John 12:48). The world's laws and ways will never make you a Christian.
