2010 June 11 - Morning Manna

And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. (John 1:32-33).

Today's Morsel: The story is told of a lady who was once talking with a gentleman in small talk. The man ask the lady if she had read a certain book. The lady said no, but that she thought that she had a copy of it at home and that she had been wanting to read it, but just had not founded the time to do so. The man told her that he was the author. After their discussion and conversation, the lady went home, found the book, and began to read it. She enjoyed it because she had met the author.

John records that John the Baptist bare record saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him. And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost." John didn't know Jesus until he saw the Spirit of God descending upon Jesus. Then John realized what was told him by God, and he knew that it would be Jesus that would baptize with the Holy Ghost. The Apostle Paul didn't know Jesus until he met Him on the road to Damascus. Luke records, "And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven: And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do... And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him said, Brother Saul, the Lord, even Jesus, that appeared unto thee in the way as thou camest, hath sent me, that thou mightest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized" (Acts 9:3-6;17-18). Many people say that they know Jesus, but you really won't know Him until He baptizes you with the Holy Ghost.

Sing: I've got the Holy Ghost, down in my soul, just like the Bible says. I've got the Holy Ghost, down in my soul, just like the Bible says. Well, I've been to the water and I've been baptized in Jesus name, my soul got happy and I'm so satisfied. I wouldn't take nothing for my journey now, just like the Bible, just like the Bible, just like the Bible says.
