False Trust
“He that trusteth in his own heart is a fool: but whoso walketh wisely, he shall be delivered.” (Proverbs 28:26)
Today’s Morsel: Looking back, how many of you have made a bad decision because you listened to someone who told you to just trust your heart? Most people who tell folks that haven’t read the Bible. I quoted today’s passage to a woman once, because I had heard her giving that advice to another lady who was struggling with a decision that she needed to make. She was totally shocked when I told her what the Bible says about trusting our heart. Jeremiah informs us, “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?” (Jeremiah 17:9) This is why, I believe, that Solomon warns us, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6) We must learn to trust God, and not our feelings and emotions, because they can lead us astray. The Bible says,“Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.” (Psalms 55:22) When you take it to Jesus, He will give you the ability to overcome what you may be struggling with. Don’t allow your flesh to cause you to accept false hope.
Sing: They that wait upon the Lord, shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles. They shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint, teach me Lord, teach me Lord, to wait.
