The Defeater of Fear
“And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is
love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him. Herein is
our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment:
because as he is, so are we in this world. There is no fear in love; but
perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is
not made perfect in love.”
(1 John 4:16-18)
Today’s Morsel: I
believe that within everyone there is a certain level of fear. Some folks
called them phobias. These anxieties, horrors, or terroristic thoughts can push
us to a point of total panic and scare if we are not careful. But John tells us
that because God is love, it is His love in us that defeats our fears. By
becoming complete in Christ, we can defeat fear. How is this possible? Because
we usually fear the unknown, whether persons or situations, the unknown can
create a certain level of fear in us. But when we truly know God and have a
strong relationship with Him, we understand that He is greater than he that is
in the world. And that includes fear. Fear is one of the weapons that Satan
uses to intimidate us into thinking that something bad will happen to us. Yet
if we will remain strong in God’s love we will be victorious over him every
time.
Sing: I command you Satan in the name of the
Lord to pick up your weapons and flee, cause God has given me the
authority to walk all over thee.
Thought For Today: “For God hath not given
us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2
Timothy 1:7)
