You Are Not Alone
“And Jacob went on his way, and the
angels of God met him. And when Jacob saw them, he said, This is God's host:
and he called the name of that place Mahanaim.” (Genesis 32:1-2)
Today’s
Morsel: If we are
not careful, we can allow fear to prevent us from seeing what God is doing in
our lives. Fear can blind us to the truth. God told Jacob from the time
that he left home, that He would be with him. But because Esau had told Jacob
that he would kill him for taking his birthright, Jacob was afraid to return
home even after God had talked with him and told him to return. God gives Jacob
a host of angels to escort him home but because of fear, he is not excited
about the escort. He just says this is God's host. You would think that Jacob
would be excited and able to see that God was keeping His promise to him. But
he allowed fear to grip his heart. What about you? Do you allow fear to prevent
you from seeing what God is trying to do in your life? Are you allowing it to
prevent you from seeing that God is fulfilling His promises to you? Remember,
fear torments.
Sing: I trust in God, wherever I may be,
upon the land or on the raging seas, for come what may from day to day, my
heavenly Father watches over, over me.
I trust in God, I know He cares for me, upon the land, or on the stormy seas, though billows roar, He keeps my soul, my heavenly Father watches over, over me.
Thought
For Today: Open your
eyes and rejoice.
