Sharing Love
“These
twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the
Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not: But go
rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. And as ye go, preach, saying,
The kingdom of heaven is at hand. Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the
dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.” Matthew 10:5-8)
Today’s Morsel:
These days, love seems to be one of those things that many are missing in their
lives. We hear of teen suicide on the rise, people losing their hope and
confidence, marriages being broken, confusion of identity running rampant in
the lives of many. So, how do we share with them the love of God that is in our
hearts? Just what can or should we be doing? Paul tells us, “As we have
therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who
are of the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10) Will doing good to all share
His love? Jesus tells us, “This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as
I have loved you.” (John 15:12) If we love one another will this share His love
with others? It ought to, or Jesus would not have told us this. What would you
say are some ways to share His love with others? For me, I share the gospel.
Because the gospel is Jesus, and Jesus is God, and God is love. And on a
more practical level, I show His love in action. Try smiling more often,
opening a door for someone, taking out your neighbor's trash, shoveling a
senior's snow, baking cookies for a shut-in. Use your imagination and
watch how Jesus will show you ways to show His love to others. "This
is my commandment" He sacrificed for you, now you can sacrifice for
others.
Sing: Living
He loved me, dying He saved me, buried He carried my sins far away.
Rising He justified, freed me forever, one day He’s coming back glorious day.
Thought For Today: Freely
you have received, freely give.
