That’s Love
“Husbands, love your
wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he
might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he
might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or
any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. So ought men to
love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself.”
(Ephesians 5:25-28)
Today’s Morsel: A few days
ago, I was listening to the news and at the end of the broadcast, there was a
clip of a young couple who had just gotten married. When they said, ‘I do’,
little did they know that the husband would have medical issues. His kidneys
began to fail. Well, to make a long story short, his new bride was a match for
him and so she gave her new husband one of her kidneys so that he could live.
And they called it a match made in heaven. Now that is true love. Love
must be without dissimulation. When we say, ‘I do’, it must be forever. Paul
places the responsibility on the husband to love his wife as Christ loved the
church. Why? Because the husband is the head and the head always sets the
standard for others to emulate. Even love. Jesus gave His all that we too
might live. That’s the greatest example of love.
Sing: Jesus went to Calvary to save a
wretch like you and me, that’s love, that’s love. They hung Him high, they
stretched Him wide, He hung His head for me died, that’s love, that’s
love. But that’s not how the story ends, three days later He rose again
that’s love, that’s love.
Thought For Today: “He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love.” (1 John 4:8)
