Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 9 December 2019

Running from Your Calling

Now the word of the LORD came unto Jonah the son of Amittai, saying, Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry against it; for their wickedness is come up before me. But Jonah rose up to flee unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD, and went down to Joppa; and he found a ship going to Tarshish: so he paid the fare thereof, and went down into it, to go with them unto Tarshish from the presence of the LORD.
(Jonah 1:1-3)

Today’s Morsel:  To me, the story of Jonah is a story of one of a person running from their calling.  Jesus said in Matthew 22:14, that many are called but few are chosen.  Is this the reason they are not chosen?  They are running.  I think that one of the reasons that men and women run from their calling to the ministry is they feel that they need to have certain qualifications and abilities.  Friend, when God calls you, He is the One that trains and equips you.  You just need to be a willing vessel that will submit to spiritual authority and have an attitude and heart to learn and serve.  If you keep running from your calling, you will live a frustrated life.  Every vehicle has brakes for a purpose.

Sing: Lord prepare me, to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true.  With thanksgiving, I’ll be a living, sanctuary for you.

Thought For Today: Every vehicle has brakes for a purpose (Parker)
