Help My Unbelief
“And
one of the multitude answered and said, Master, I have brought unto thee my
son, which hath a dumb spirit; And wheresoever he taketh him, he teareth him:
and he foameth, and gnasheth with his teeth, and pineth away: and I spake to
thy disciples that they should cast him out; and they could not. He answereth
him, and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you? how long
shall I suffer you? bring him unto me. And they brought him unto him: and when
he saw him, straightway the spirit tare him; and he fell on the ground, and
wallowed foaming. And he asked his father, How long is it ago since this came
unto him? And he said, Of a child. And ofttimes it hath cast him into the fire,
and into the waters, to destroy him: but if thou canst do any thing, have
compassion on us, and help us. Jesus said unto him, If thou canst believe, all
things are possible
to him that believeth. And straightway the father of the child cried out, and
said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief.” (Mark 9:17-24)
Today’s Morsel: Unbelief is a lack of religious belief; or an
absence of faith. Even though we may have faith and believe in
God’s ability to do what He says, somehow, when there is a delay in His answer,
there is that innate spirit that raises the spirit of unbelief in us. The man
said to Jesus, “I believe, but help thou my unbelief.” I went to Your
disciples and they didn’t have the answer, and so I’m not sure if You can do
anything about the situation or not. I believe in You and your abilities,
but I need You to give me strength and
grace to put my entire
confidence in You and in Your abilities to heal my son. Please help my
unbelief. Do we pray as this man? Every one of us who comes to Jesus for help has need of offering this kind
of prayer. In our unbelief and our
doubts, we need His help to
help us believe.
Sing: I
believe God, I believe God, that He will do just as He says. Trust and
obey, believe Him and say, "I believe, I believe God."
Thought For Today:
“Unbelief… Not for sure”
