“The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame” (Proverbs 29:15).
Today’s Morsel: I often wonder what goes through a mother’s mind when she sees her son or daughter being led away in handcuffs by the police, standing before a judge for possible a prison or jail sentence, having to explain their child’s behavior to a teacher, pastor, or neighbor because something of theirs was broken or stolen. In today’s world, because the instruction found in the word of God isn’t implemented by some in the home, it makes child misbehavior widespread. As Paul told the church at Ephesus, (Ephesians 6:4) “And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord”. In other words, place them under such discipline and instruction that they shall become acquainted with the Lord and His ways. Educate, instruct, train and discipline your children in such a manner as the Lord approves; and in a way that brings virtue and faith in God. If not, they will cause you extreme shame and pain. Always remember, there is a huge difference between abuse and spankings. Yet if you spare the rod (correction) you are asking for rebellion and trouble. Instruct your children in the way of the Lord.
Sing: Jesus loves the little children, all the children of the world. Red and yellow black and white, they are precious in His sight. Jesus loves the little children of the world.
Thought for today: The rod and reproof give wisdom. Spare the rod, spoil the child.
