Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2017 July 3

"And the priests brought in the ark of the covenant of the LORD unto his place, to the oracle of the house, into the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims: For the cherubims spread forth their wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above. And they drew out the staves of the ark, that the ends of the staves were seen from the ark before the oracle; but they were not seen without. And there it is unto this day. There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt."
(2 Chronicles 5:7-10)

Today’s Morsel: After Solomon had completed the building of the Temple of the Lord, he had the priest bring in the Ark of the Lord and place it in its place.  However, scriptures says,  “There was nothing in the ark save the two tables which Moses put therein at Horeb, when the LORD made a covenant with the children of Israel, when they came out of Egypt.”  But God had commanded Moses to place a pot of manna and Aaron's rod that budded in the ark as a testimony of what He had done for them (see Exodus 16:30-34; Number 17:10; Hebrews 9:1-5).  But now we see that there are only the two tables written on by the hand of God inside of the ark.  Some may question what happened to the pot of manna and the rod.  The manna and the rod were testimonies of what God had done for Israel’s provision in the wilderness.  Now, in the church, the temple, the pastor must feed and lead God’s flock according to and by His Word only (Jeremiah 3:15).  The Word remains forever.

Sing:  I was glad when they said unto me, I was glad when they said unto me, I was glad when they said unto me, come let us go unto the house of the Lord.

Thought For Today: The Word will never pass away.
