Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2016 October 6

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: That, according as it is written, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. (1 Corinthians 1:30-31)

Today’s Morsel:  Sometimes, if we are not careful, we can forget what Jesus is to us.  Paul said that Jesus was made to give us wisdom. That is, He is to us the source of wisdom; it is by Him that we are made wise.  James said, “But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy” (James 3:17).  And He is our righteousness. We become righteous through Him.  As Isaiah said, “But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away” (Isaiah 64:6).  “The LORD hath brought forth our righteousness…” Jeremiah said (Jeremiah 51:10).  Sanctification; by Him we are sanctified or made holy.  Paul told the church at Corinth, “But ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God” (1 Corinthians 6:11).   Redemption; Jesus Christ atoned for our sins.  David said that He redeemed our life from destruction, and crowns us with lovingkindness and tender mercies (Psalms 103:4).  Paul also said of Him, “Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works” (Titus 2:14).  But Isaiah made it very plain when he said: “Therefore the redeemed of the LORD shall return, and come with singing unto Zion; and everlasting joy shall be upon their head: they shall obtain gladness and joy; and sorrow and mourning shall flee away” (Isaiah 51:11);  And they shall call them, The holy people, The redeemed of the LORD: and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken”(Isaiah 62:12).  So if you are going to glory, then glory in the Lord.

Sing: Therefore, the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing unto Zion, and every lasting joy shall be upon their heads.  They shall obtain, gladness and joy, and sorrow and mourning shall flee away.  Therefore, the redeemed of the Lord shall return and come with singing unto Zion, and every lasting joy shall be upon their heads.

Thought For Today:  Glory only in the Lord!
