And the angel said unto him, Gird thyself, and bind on thy sandals. And so he did. And he saith unto him, Cast thy garment about thee, and follow me. And he went out, and followed him; and wist not that it was true which was done by the angel; but thought he saw a vision. When they were past the first and the second ward, they came unto the iron gate that leadeth unto the city; which opened to them of his own accord: and they went out, and passed on through one street; and forthwith the angel departed from him. And when Peter was come to himself, he said, Now I know of a surety, that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath delivered me out of the hand of Herod, and from all the expectation of the people of the Jews. And when he had considered the thing, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, whose surname was Mark; where many were gathered together praying. (Acts 12:8-12)
Today’s Morsel: What would you do if an angel appeared to you and gave you instructions as he did Peter? Would you be afraid or would you obey? There was prayer being made for Peter by the church. When the angel appeared to him and told him to put on his shoes and garment, Peter obeyed. How many times have you heard your pastor tell you through their preaching to put on the whole armor of God? Well, they are ministering spirits sent forth to the minister to the heir of salvation (Hebrews 1:14). So put your shoes and garments on as you can’t walk out without them. If you are going to come out of the world and be effective for Christ, you need to put on the whole armor of God that you will be able to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:10-18).
Sing: Put on the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, lift your voice to God. Pray in the spirit and with understanding, O’ magnify the Lord.
Thought For Today: The gospel still has the power to deliver.
