Morning Manna by Rufus Parker - 2016 September 1

I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.
(2 Timothy 4:1-4)

Today’s Morsel:  Why does it seem that people do not want to hear and accept the truth?  Why have so many people become blinded to truth?  How can so many people call themselves Christians and yet reject truth?  Don't they know that Jesus is the truth (John 14:6)?  Don't they know that the same truth they reject will be the very same truth that will judge them in the last day (John 12:48)?  I believe that we are living in the last days.  It is just as the apostle Paul said that it would be:  Men would believe lies over truth; Women would be led away captive by lust; Men would be lovers of pleasure more than lovers of God; Evil would be called good and good would be called evil; The love of money would draw many away from God; And because sin would abound, the love of many would wax cold.  And so Paul admonished Timothy to preach the word.  We must still tell people what the word of God says. It is the only thing that can make them free from themselves and the wrong way and it is the only thing that will open their eyes to truth. Someone may decide to hear it, while others may choose to reject it. But if you have preached the word, you will have done your part.  So preach the word.

Sing:  I’m gonna serve the Lord anyway that I can! I’m gonna serve the Lord anyway that I can! I’m gonna serve the Lord, anyway that I can.

Thought For Today: The truth shall make you free.
