But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed. And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them. (Luke 5:15-17)
Today's Morsel: One of the things about Jesus' ministry, was that it put the false teachers to silence quickly. They were not able to do the things that He could do. One of the methods Jesus used to show that He was Who He said He was was that of healing people. Whether it was physically, mentally, or spiritually, the Bible said that He healed them. "And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people. And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them" (Matthew 4:23-24). The Pharisees believed in angels and in the resurrection, that's why they were 'fair-u-see', and the Sadducees did not believe in either, that's why they were 'sad-u-see' (my Humor). The Bible said that after certain days, as Jesus was teaching, there was the power of the Lord present to heal them. Because Jesus was present, and all power in heaven and earth belongs to Him (Matthew 28:18), and He who is the healer was in the house, everyone could be healed that needed to be healed. Friend, He has not lost His power to heal. I pray we have not lost our power to believe that He can. For He said, "If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth" (Mark 9:23).
Sing: Only believe, only believe, all things are possible, only believe. Only believe, only believe, all things are possible, if you will only believe.
Thought for Today: "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11:6).
