For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh"
Today's Morsel: What would you classify as the cause of self- condemnation? Would you say that it is because people don't see themselves as being good enough? What about feeling that they cannot measure up to other's expectations? Or maybe fear of failure? No matter how you look at it, self-condemnation, like self-discipline, self-respect, or self-restraint all begin with one's self. Many condemn themselves for no reason. Jesus told Nicodemus that He did not come to condemn the world but to save it ( John 3:17). Paul lets us know that Jesus condemned sin in his flesh, because anything that is not of faith is sin. ("for whatsoever is not of faith is sin" Romans 14:23.) Jesus condemned sin for you so you wouldn't walk around condemning yourself when you make a mistake or don't think you measure up. There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit is life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. Condemnation, whether towards others or yourself, is a sign that you are walking in the flesh and not in the spirit. When you are in Christ, you are to be free from condemnation. It really doesn't matter what others think about you. What matters is what Jesus thinks about you. As He told the woman caught in adultery, "Neither do I condemn thee, go and sin no more" (John 8:11).
