"Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary. And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all; Which had the golden censer, and the ark of the covenant overlaid round about with gold, wherein was the golden pot that had manna, and Aaron's rod that budded, and the tables of the covenant; And over it the cherubims of glory shadowing the mercyseat; of which we cannot now speak particularly. Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God. But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people: The Holy Ghost this signifying, that the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest, while as the first tabernacle was yet standing: Which was a figure for the time then present, in which were offered both gifts and sacrifices, that could not make him that did the service perfect, as pertaining to the conscience"(Hebrews 9:1-9)
Today's Morsel:I like checking company mottos and slogans. As I was checking the other day, I noticed that J.C. Penny's slogan is, "It's all inside." They want you to know that everything you want they have, but you've got to come inside to see it. Great slogan. When we turn to the church, the writer of Hebrews, lays out for us the Tabernacle in the Wilderness, by saying, it's all inside, but you have to come inside to see it. The only ones who were allowed inside of the sanctuary in the Tabernacle in the Wilderness was the priest, and into the Holiest of All, was the high priest once a year. But when Jesus was pierced in His side on the cross, He rolled back the curtain so that all could come all the way inside and unto the mercy seat. The reason many don't like the church is they have come inside the sanctuary, but they do not want to come all they way in. They have stopped short of the mercy seat. They have stopped short of the Ark of the Covenant. They have stopped short of being washed by the Word. You can be one of those who complains about the church, or you can come all the way inside and see for yourself what the Lord has inside for you.
Sing: I can go, into the Holy of Holies, I can kneel, and make my petitions known. I can go, into the Holy of Holies, for although I'm just a common man, because of God's redemption plan, I can boldly approach the throne.
