He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
(Revelation 21:7-8)
(Revelation 21:7-8)
Today's Morsel: What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you see a person of truth or a person full of lies? Why did Jesus tell the religious leaders that they were of their father the devil? He said it was because they were liars. "Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it" (John 8:44). So many people seem to have trouble with telling the truth these days. The spirit of deception is running ramped across the land. Employers lie to those looking for work about not having employment in their companies because of biases. Politicians lie to the people for personal status and personal gain. Ministers report fake numbers to give the impression that their church is growing. Spouses lie to each other about secret lovers and hidden relationships. Kids lie to their teachers as to the reason they did not complete an assignment. And the worst yet, is that people lie about their commitment to God. "Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge" David said, (Psalms 14:4). He asked the Lord, "LORD, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart" (Psalms 15:1-2). Liars only hurts the themselves as liars shall not inherit the Kingdom of God.
Sing: To be like Jesus! To be like Jesus! On earth I long to be like Him. All through life's journey from earth to glory, I only ask to be like Him.
