2013 May 27 - Morning Manna

"And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets: Who through faith subdued kingdoms, wrought righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, Quenched the violence of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, out of weakness were made strong, waxed valiant in fight, turned to flight the armies of the aliens. Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection: And others had trial of cruel mockings and scourgings, yea, moreover of bonds and imprisonment: They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins; being destitute, afflicted, tormented; (Of whom the world was not worthy:) they wandered in deserts, and in mountains, and in dens and caves of the earth. And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise: God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect"(Hebrews 11:32-40).

Today's Morsel: Today we celebrate "Memorial Day" in America. Memorial Day is not to be confused with Veteran's Day. Memorial Day is a time to honor and remember those men and women who died while serving in theUnited States Armed Forces. Whereas, Veterans Day is to honor all service members, both those who died or are still living.
The Book of Hebrews calls our attention to many we should remember and honor for their devotion to duty and ultimate sacrifice so that you and I may be free. The writer makes mention of many who died while in the service of the Lord. And even today, many are giving the ultimate sacrifice to make others free. History tells us that all of Jesus' disciples were killed all but the apostle John. Each of them gave their lives that we could hear the truth of the gospel and be made free. But no one was more willing to die then our Captain of the Host, The Lord Jesus Christ. He gave His life that you and I could live. And so as you celebrate this Memorial Day, please don't forget to honor our Savior, Jesus Christ. Because, if He had not died, where would we be.
Sing: He paid a debt He did not owe, I owed a debt, I could not pay, I needed someone to wash my sins away; And now I sing a brand new song, "Amazing Grace", for Jesus paid a debt, that I could never pay.
