2013 May 25 - Morning Manna

Now Jehoshaphat had riches and honour in abundance, and joined affinity with Ahab. And after certain years he went down to Ahab to Samaria. And Ahab killed sheep and oxen for him in abundance, and for the people that he had with him, and persuaded him to go up with him to Ramothgilead. And Ahab king of Israel said unto Jehoshaphat king of Judah, Wilt thou go with me to Ramothgilead? And he answered him, I am as thou art, and my people as thy people; and we will be with thee in the war. And Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD to day. Therefore the king of Israel gathered together of prophets four hundred men, and said unto them, Shall we go to Ramothgilead to battle, or shall I forbear? And they said, Go up; for God will deliver it into the king's hand. But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD besides, that we might enquire of him? (2 Chronicles 18:1-6)

Today's Morsel:  It amazes me how many people believe what they hear from the media. As I heard a man once say, a half truth is a lie.  Most news casters are not reporting firsthand information, they are telling you what someone else said.  This is why you must have the facts before you draw your conclusion on matters and issues.  Remember, there is two sides to every story. Maybe this is why the Lord told us , "At the mouth of two witnesses, or three witnesses, shall he that is worthy of death be put to death; but at the mouth of one witness he shall not be put to death."(Deuteronomy 17:6).  Paul told Timothy, "Against an elder receive not an accusation, but before two or three witnesses" (1 Timothy 5:19).  He said you need two or three witnesses.  When King Jehoshaphat joined himself to king Ahab, Ahab asked him to go to battle with him.  But Jehoshaphat said unto the king of Israel, Enquire, I pray thee, at the word of the LORD today. John tells us, "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world. Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world" (1 John 4:1-3).  If you are one of those who believes everything that someone tells you, you may wind up in a mess. John said that we need to try the spirit whether they be of God. Remember, all that glitters isn't gold.

Sing:  Just a closer walk with Thee, grant it Jesus is my plea, daily walking close to Thee, let it be, dear Lord, let it be.
