Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. (James 1:17).
Today's Morsel: Well it's that time of year that everyone starts wondering what gift to buy. Many may even going into a state of depression trying to determine if they will get the right gift and if the gift they purchase will be what makes others happy. When the Magi showed up to visit Jesus, they brought gold, frankincense, and myrrh. And even these were not perfect gifts. James tells us that every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. So every good gift and every perfect gift is from God. We can't buy them in a store or with money. As Peter told Simon, "But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money"(Acts 8:20). Good gifts and perfect gifts that are from God are freely given. There is no amount of money that can buy them. Peter told the people on the day of Pentecost, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call" (Acts 2:38-39). If you want to give someone a gift that will never tarnish and never wear out, give them Jesus and they'll be thanking you for years to come.
Sing: If the ship of your life, is tossing on the sea of strife; You need someone. If you feel so all alone, and your house is not a home; You need someone. If it seems life isn't fair, and there's no one left to share; all those lonely days and nights, and things just won't turn out right; then you need someone to care, someone to just be there; You need someone.
Chorus: I give you Jesus, He's the peace that passes all understanding; I give you Jesus, He's the perfect love that casteth out all fear; I give you Jesus, He's the water that you drink and never thirst again; I give you Jesus, my friend, I give you Jesus,
If the pressures all around, keep your spirits to the ground; You need someone. If your body is in pain, and your health you can't regain; you need someone. If it seems that you have tried, with all the strength you have inside; and it seems that you have failed, remember on the cross He nailed; all the bitterness and grief, to give you peace and sweet relief; for He is that someone that you need.
Chorus: So I give you Jesus, He's the peace that passes all understanding; I give you Jesus, He's the perfect love that casteth out all fear; I give you Jesus, He's the water that you drink and never thirst again; I give you Jesus, my friend, I give you Jesus, He's everything, everything you'll ever need, Oh I give you Jesus, my friend, I give you Jesus.
